I’m a terrible packer

Wet wipe (2 Thai models)

I think I’ve blogged about this before but I am a terrible packer. This trip is worse because we have to prepare for temperatures ranging from 25oC to below zero when we reach the 5000m heights. All this compounded by the fact that I also moved house in the same week!

I thought I would be clever and get a head-start and pack ahead so that in case I wasn’t able to unpack in the new house, at least I would be ready for the trip. Nice idea if you can follow through. But as I unpacked in the new house, I found a few things that I had forgotten I needed. So they kept piling up on the already packed back pack. I usually make lists but kept remembering things that I needed to get for the trip and never had a pen or paper to write them down. Why I never added them to the notes on my phone – I’ll never know. Talk about hindsight.

So I had to do a bit of shopping and repacking at 11 at night before I fly out, making notes of stuff I forgot like wet wipes (got to pick them up in KTM).

Writing this as I sit in the plane on the way, I am compiling lists of stuff to buy and how to re-pack before the trip in addition to sorting out mobile and internet for the trip so that I could tweet and blog a little more often between places.

What are the chances I’ll forget a few things again until I reach Lhasa. Where did I put that phone?

Zemanta helped me add links & pictures to this email. It can do it for you too.

Baby steps | Market Buzz

I wrote this on my company blog for all the b2b n00bs that kept asking me questions about how to and what to do when they join Twitter.

I thought I'd share them here because I am getting annoyed with the spam and a lot of them are from people who I follow. I wish people would think twice before clicking on a link. DMs you can delete but @ messages you can't do anything about. Argh!

The next time I get one of them, I'll... oh never mind. Rant over. For now.

Love these - got them on Twitter via Lenaro and thought they needed a wider distribution! Enjoy!

PodOmatic | a mad conversation over breakfast

This is the first podcast of some of the members of the team.

We were up early (before the crack of dawn) so Carol, Jane, Adrian and Damien could get in some long distance cycling before it got to hot.

Here is a brief chat at breakfast after the team had cycled close to 60Kms on their bikes.

These will continue as conversations.

Enjoy!

A conversation over breakfast at the Miramar after Carol, Jane, Adrian and Damien cycled around Madha and up to the Miramar as practice for the Lhasa to Kathmandu ride.

mita’s ramblings

I plan to podcast (and hopefully blog, tweet and facebook as well) during our trip this summer.

In case you're not aware - I am joining a few friends and volunteers to travel the Friendship Highway (Lhasa to Kathmandu) where we will definitely pass (we are told) at least three 5000meter passes (including Everest Base Camp).

From my last visits - this place is stunning countryside. While I am not personally cycling - I think there will be gruelling hard days and some very fun days but all in all it will be a very satisfying trip.

At the end of which we will also be able to contribute to a very good cause - the building of an eco farm that will house up to 50 orphans, giving the headstart they need in life.

So let me have your feedback and if you have the inclination, the support for our fundraising.
