My introverted self

Media_httpoxihbrorgc8_bctfr

I found this article - An Introvert's Guide to Networking by Lisa Petrilli on the Harvard Business Review. I have to say I identified with it.

Contrary to popular belief I am an introvert except when I am with people I am familiar with. Its one of the reasons I avoid networking evenings unless its a small group or a large group where I am sure to meet a lot of people I know I can have great conversations with.

Even in smaller groups, if I find that I know fewer people or only the host, I go very quiet and sit in a corner watching and listening. Love doing that.

So if you've invited me, I said yes and went into a corner - its my crab sign that says I've gone shy and gone into my shell. Nothing to do with you or the company. Promise. Just being my introverted self.

Out of the mouths of babes

Sometimes its the kids that keep us honest and say what we grown-ups are afraid to say. A friend emailed this to me and I had to share it on my blog.

THROUGH A CHILD'S EYES...

Digital discrimination

Media_http1bpblogspot_pgvxf

This blog post by Jacky's Electronics (click on the link below the photo) shares some very interesting points but I think that just posting this is not enough. I think its time that we (all of us that want legal access) in the Middle East raised our voices in unison and petitioned all of these stalwarts that want our loyalty and our money but do not acknowledge our needs.

I say that if the owners of the copyright (like Alexander McNabb for his book - read more on http://fakeplasticsouks.blogspot.com/2011/12/territorial-book-rights-unnecess... want us to have it - why should Google, Apple, Amazon et al play God and decide who has access to what content?

Do they think that those that want access illegally are not doing so already? So all they're really doing is denying good honest folk the right to access content that would cross divides and borders. I don't understand.

I think we should do blogs, tweets, facebook posts on these pages and let their local PR spin doctors lobby on our behalf. Let us not take this discrimination any longer.

I am frustrated - aren't you?

What about child security in other areas?

Media_httpgulfnewscom_ekbxj

Tragic as this is - accidents happen - parents need to be very vigilant about small children. It is sad that it took the lives of 5 small children to get the notice of parents or authorities. Sometimes, parents are so keen to indulge their children, that security and caution are thrown to the wind.

Another area of concern - car safety. Maybe the authorities need to clamp down on this, too. How many times have we seen children in the front of the car - without a seatbelt? Will it take 5 children to go through a wind shield because a driver had to brake hard in an emergency (with the maniacs on the road) for someone to take notice?
